New Features Exclusively for GasTips Members!

As a member of GasTips, the following new features are now available for your enjoyment, such as customizing this site, or disputing tips. If you are not yet a GasTips Member, you can join easily.

1. Customizing this web site - MyGasTips

MyGasTips allows you to customize GasTips in many ways.

MyPersonal Settings is used to sign up for price alert notifications - we will email you when prices start to rise in your region so you can dash to the pump! You can also sign up for GasTips updates - we will send you no more than 2 emails a month with GasTips news that will interest you.

MyCommunities allows you to create your own communities, and define the gas stations you wish to display tips for in these new communities.

MyStations allows you to create your own customized tip entry form of up to 20 stations. This makes the task of entering tips much quicker. You can also print out this list to take with you in your car - makes tip recording simple!

MyFilters is used to customize your tip displays. You can display tips in the sort order you select, and can "filter" tips by vendor, submitter type and tip age.

2. Disputing Tips and Updating Tips

Disputing Tips: As this site relies on voluntary submissions from users, errors and omissions, as well as willful misinformation, are possible. The operators of this site may occasionally check for invalid data and remove it from the site. However this may not be done in a timely manner.

Now, GasTips members can do something about this occasional problem. If you notice that a "bogus" tip has been entered, you can "dispute" the tip, and/or correct it. If you dispute a tip, it will be marked accordingly, and if enough people dispute it, it will be deleted. If you accidentally submit an incorrect tip yourself, you can easily delete your tip by disputing it.

Updating Tips: You may notice a tip that may have been correct when entered, but the price has since changed. By filling in a new price for a tip you will create a new tip, marked with the current time. This is really just an easy way to create a new tip, without having to enter all the vendor and location information.
